Just wondering!!!! How is it that an LSA can't be younger than 21 years of age to work at Amtrak because they sell alcohol. But a Conductor can start at 18 years old and be in charge of the train which includes the sale of alcoholic beverages by the LSA. Just some food for thought.

The conductor is not engaging in the sale of alcoholic beverages & has nothing to do with the revenue from same.

Now, granted, I'm out in Flyover Country...

but I've not seen ANY 18 year olds (or even 21 year olds) in Amtrak T&E service.

Welcome to the working world; the rules are made by the bosses.

Probally because different states have varying laws on service of alcohol.

I live in Maryland and you have to be 18 to serve alcohol, but I suspect in some states you have to be 21 to serve alcohol.

It probally makes it easier for Amtrak to use the strictest state it passes through as a guideline.

I was 20 when I went to work for Amtrak in T&E. That was just over a year ago.
