Tom has it right and explained better than I originally did.
Also if this train were to operate on the Lowell mainline, its only entrance
and egress in Somerville is at Walnut St crossover or Somerville Jct.
It would have to operate via old Yard 8 down to FX to go out to
Everett Jct.
And it could not come down the High Line to Tower A either because
freight trains are not allowed on the Charles River Bridge (with exceptions like our work train) and there just no room for a train that large to clear
the back ladder of Tower A. Not only that, you would have to shove out
to Everett because you couldn't run around your train.
