That's correct. As I mentioned above, there
never was a railroad bridge there. The BR&W in NJ is ex-PRR and the New Hope & Ivyland in New Hope is ex-RDG. They did not interchange. There's also a fairly significant elevation difference between the RDG tracks and the PRR tracks across the river- the RDG tracks are higher. New Hope was settled by colonials at least as early as 1712, predating the railroad by around 180 years- The Philadelphia & Reading didn't get to New Hope until 1891. I'm sure that even at that time, residents would not have enjoyed being displaced by the railroad to build a bridge.
There have been at least a couple of vehicular bridges there, the first built somewhere around 1814. Periodic flood damage led to the replacement of various spans over the years. The current bridge between New Hope & Lambertville did carry trolley tracks, IIRC, some time in the early 1900s and that line ran to Trenton, I think.
