I live in Langhorne PA behind the Morrisville Line. I believe only 6 trains a day ply the rails however last night there were 5 to 7 in just one hour. Were these detour trains??

There are six scheduled NS trains aday to and from Morrisville. 20Q/21Q and 20E/21J, which are intermodal trains. 21J does not run on Sat. or Sun. The 14G/17G is mixed freight. 17G does not run Sunday. CSX runs the Q190/Q191 over the Morrisville Line. It is a stack train that cannot operate via the Trenton Line between Woodbourne and CP River in Philly due to clearance issues. NS runs empty gon trains into Morrisville on an as needed basis. Usually symbolled 66Z, they go to the old US Steel Fairless works where a contractor imports steel via ship from several countries and loads it into gons for delivery to steel mills in OH and WV. The loads are usually 20 foot long slabs of steel, 2 or 3 per car. They depart Morrisville usually as 67Z, mostly in 75 car trains. When one of these steel carrying ships comes in, sometimes there can be 2 66Z's and 67Z's in a day. Once the ship is empty this traffic can disappear for a month or more.
