NYAR Train Sighting Thread

Well, I don't know who might've blown the horn on you guys in the past, but I was on the N last night and saw an NYA crew dropping off some mixed freight as I came out the 4th Avenue tunnel portal. Who was near the subway ROW with the flashlight?

I passed by around 21:20 aka 9:20pm.

Today at Divide, finally saw the 159. It was working with the 151 and 155.
10:15 E/B with 8 boxcars and 1 centerbeam,
3:53 W/B with 6 boxcars

I was at Fresh Pond this weekend and saw the 155 & 159 coupled nose to nose on one of the yard tracks. Hopefully I will see the 159 on the main-line handling the RS50 at night.

If you looked closely, one of those 1500's is missing its Speed Control apparatus. The Mech asked us to run them down the Bayridge to shake them out a little. They are smoother than the 1001's but that is not necessarily an advantage when you are measuring the track condition by the Good Bump Bad Bump method.

Again today I spotted the 159/155/151 combo E/B, this time at 10:01 on the Ronk. branch with 3 hoppers and 3 centerbeams.

They must have gone down the central branch because I heard the PD operator "Chris" trying to contact Engine # 155 west around 2:30 or 3:00 pm.

i heard them through Bay Shore at 325pm. tuesday.

So, I noticed RS-100 came down the Bay Ridge last night with ONE boxcar sandwiched between the engines. Did you guys encounter anyone on the tracks? I thought I heard a horn blast near the point you pass Glenwood Masonry.

New CDTR, BKMN on the 100, so I can't help ya. However there is a cute Black and White Pit Bull that lives around there and wanders close to the tracks. Also alot of miscreants tag a couple of walls just East of there and with the longer days, we've noticed more kids along the way.

Now it looks like we're back to 2 engine combinations from what I can see at Divide. From 4/20 to 4/23 it was the 151/268/261. From 4/26 to 4/30 it was the 151/155/159. All this week it's been the 261/268.

How did the 159 check out and will it be back?

i heard horns friday nite, 5/8/04 at around midnight in Sayville. was there a freight run overnight? it definately sounded MP-15 going east.

Caught the 51 tonight at Farmingdale and then heard the 80 on the radio. Went down to New Highway and he had the 268, 261, and 155. He was dropping off the 155 and a JTSX hopper and he also picked up a empty centerbeam from Marjam which was delivered to them last Friday by the 80.

80% Accurate Mr. Emfinite. We also spotted 2 Flats and a Hi-Box at Marjam.

I spotted the RS-Emfinite with a Black sedan just west of the West leg of PW Wye. Did you like the display of faulty wiring on the crossing protection???

I saw the gates go up when the train was halfway through over the crossing... Gotta love that wiring.

Glad we had Knife-Switch there to lay down some flares though................

The RS30/31 was much longer today than usual. 3 engines (159/151/268) pulling 10 gondolas and 10 boxcars on the Ronk. branch. At Divide E/B at 9:51 and W/B at 1:00.
