Anybody have an up-to-the-minute roster of SMS locomotives? That Baldwin fleet is facinating. Why the fixation with Baldwin's?

I don't know how up to date this is, but here's an SMS roster:

Anything new with SMS and it's Baldwin fleet?

I've never had a clear bead on how large SMS/PJR is. How many locomotives do they need to serve their customers?

How many units of this huge roster are actually in service, and how many are likely to see service soon? What do they plan to do with them all?

Owning and running old Baldwins is second only to owning and running old ALCO's. If it has to be explained, you probably wouldn't understand  They are cool, plentiful (so to speak) and with the right mechanics, they will provide reliable service "forever". And they look damn good doing it, as well as that "burbling"........ :-D

South Jersey railfans are doubly blessed with SMS with their Baldwins

and SRNJ with their Alcos and MLWs.

Yesterday (Nov 23, 2005) I stopped at Morrisville, PA, to see SMS 1953 Baldwin S12 #301 working their Penn Jersey Lines job.

On Wed 1/4 I saw 3 ex-Oliver Mining units on flatcars at the end of a freight headed for Camden. One was 7247,the others were in bad shape but none had trucks, one was missing the cab as well.I think these are from LTV in MN and I assume they are headed to SMS.Are they for parts only?

Q-417 did, indeed, deliver the (nearly) three Erie Mining S12's to CSAO in Camden on Wednesday. CSAO delivered them to SMS on CA-11 on Thursday. I saw the train in Paulsboro.

(much of) 7241

7247 looks pretty good

7248 is a bit rusty

I photographed them again at the SMS interchange near Center Square Road.

Out of morbid curiosity, are there any railfan-friendly places to see those SMS baldwins in action?

Can anyone give an updated roster for the SMS/PJL, including out of service units and units for cannibalization?

Also, where did SMS get it's shop force and road crews? I guess liking old Baldwins is a prerequisite for joining the railroad.
