VRE wants to expand service before 2050

While 2050 is more than a quarter century away, Virginia Railway Express wants to start transforming its commuter rail operations much sooner.

VRE can really begin service expansion when the following is complete.
1. 2nd Long Bridge becomes operational with original 's ungraded if needed.
2. The 2 passenger Main tracks from 1st street tunnel to ALX are completed and in service.
3. Any upgrades to 1st street tunnel are complete.
4, Flyover of VRE tracks over CSX south of ALX is in service.
5. Track improvements including some additional tracks are complete south of ALX.
