Many years ago, I remember seeing concept art of a LIRR GP38 in a blue and yellow livery in a similar fashion to the classic blue and white stripes on this website. I don't remember what topic it's in, but there was something in the photo description that said the LIRR would buy back NYAR's GP38s upon more PR20Bs being ordered for NYAR. Could anyone please relocate the photo? Is the LIRR still planning to buyback the GP38s by any chance?

LIRR still owns the GP38-2's, so far as I know. They lease them to NY&A and have borrowed some back on occasion.

That wasn't for a GP38 buyback - first of all, they're LIRR property which is leased to NYA, and can and do operate under LIRR jurisdiction. It was a scheme for the proposed Progress Rail next-generation work locomotives to replace the MP15ACs.
