The Conneaut Creek trestle is slated to be replaced in 2022. So, get your pictures while you can. Do not know specifics, but probably replacement will be similar to sttle of the Grand River bridge in Painesville. According to reports, traffic is to be maintained, so it seems there will be a realignment of trackage.

Piers [uprights] were built in early 20th Century, girder or beam sections were rebuilt near end or just after WWII in the program to increase bridge weight limits to allow the NKP 700's to operate east of Cleveland.

Bridge is in background of Howard Fogg's illustration of B&LE 643 leading a southbound ore train used on the cover of the B&LE Centennial book of 1969.

No word yet what are plans for Ashtabula's bridge which is visible from Spring Street in Ashtabula.

Bridge is in constant use by locals to access Conneaut Creek. Always thought that was a dangerous practice, but I've never seen any attempt to restrict pedestrian traffic on the bridge.
