Desperate MEPs plead with Britain to help save Eurostar – rail firm on the brink
A GROUP of MEPs has piled pressure on France and Britain to bail out the Eurostar amid fears the cross-Channel train service will collapse due to the coronavirus pandemic. https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics ... el-bailout

Britain also has no financial stakes in Eurostar at all - they sold their 40% share in 2015 to Canadian and US investment companies.

To be fair this is part of a wider lobbying campaign by Eurostar to get some assistance from the UK after they've exhausted subsidy avenues with the French government. There was a similar public appeal by the London First business group on behalf of Eurostar in January.

The attempts to run this vital( and expensive) piece of infrastructure privately have been a disaster from the start.
It should be 50 % owned by the French and British governments respectively.
Ironic that the roads and railways (and competing ports ) leading to it are all government owned.
