If it's maintained to 25 why don't you go 20 at Restricted Speed? That line has a lot of tangent with gentle curves doesn't it? Visibility should be pretty good.

I'd guess same reason Pan Am doesn't set speeds at 20? Harmonic rock on stick rail?

Could be. I know some other railroads have much more specific harmonic rock rules like nothing 13-18 MPH etc didn't know what the case would be here?

It's that way because of rule; VRS changed us from NORAC to GCOR, and put it into Other Than Main Track for the interim, which by rule is not to exceed Restricted Speed which for GCOR is 10MPH. Once the traffic picks up I am assuming we will be moved to Track Warrant Control, and thus back to 25.

Going from 25 to 10, that must have been painful the first time.

Thank you - never had to be GCOR qualified.
