Can anyone tell me why the EL blanked out the upper cab windows on the RS2/3s?

Same reason most roads did, cab glare was high, cabs got hot, glass cost money to replace, steel didn't break. Look at the photos, you'll see a lot of newspapers taped over the upper windows!

Thank you sir! Florida RR Museum has a Seaboard RS3 that has those windows intact. I was not aware that other roads closed them off as well. Thanks again.

NYC did the same thing, welded plates over the upper windows.

As high as those windows were, there wasn't much to be seen out of them anyway.
