Looking at the construction, I'm curious where on Wayne it will run: the north side, south or down the middle?

Down the middle. Dale Drive will be an island platform station similar to the DC Streetcar stations on Benning Road.

This would make sense as the main yard for the trains is at the east-end of the line at Glenridge which is just west of route 450.

And only maintenance facility.

If memory servers, earlier plans had a smaller maintenance facility at the Lyttonsville Yard.

There were lots of things in the design before it got Hogan'ed.....

Is the UMD platform as far away from the Green Line entrance as it seems from the imagery?

it's not as extensive as it once was, but there is definitely a yard there.

It doesn't look too bad. It's very convenient for MARC passengers.

The 30% plans have huge amounts of detail, but some of it has changed, but if you want engineering drawings for the MoCo section this is the best source.

Your particular question is answered by the official website routing maps:
https://www.purplelinemd.com/component/ ... -drive-new

As well as indirectly via the station features summary:

And the landscaping plans:

It runs down the middle of Wayne in a shared center lane with traffic. Getting from Silver Spring metro to University might be one of the slowest sections per mile of the route.

I was there a few days ago. From the interior work, it appears the platform will be right where that visible pillar is, with passengers entering from the 2nd floor via a bridge.

WMATA is closing the Red line north of Takoma this weekend to allow the contractor to set the girders that will carry the Purple line tracks over the north end of the Silver Spring Metrorail station platform.

Looks like their were delayed. Reddit people said they didn't even close colesville. There is steel on site now though as someone posted a picture of that. Looks like they might hang stuff soon but probably not over CSX/WMATA as this weekend I don't think is a shutdown.

Lots of photos of construction on Reddit (/r/silverspring):

One guy takes a photo from the same location every few days but the others are more occasional. Looks like they have some I-beams over the CSX/Red line as of this weekend. Looks like WMATA has the red line closed every other weekend for a while.

They didn't close the road for any of it. I heard the fright train sometime late in the evening though so they were done before I fell asleep.
