-SMS Lines in Bridgeport hosted their very first "Wheels & Rails" car show today. On hand for the festivities were three of CSX's "Tribute Units".

CSX #911 "Spirit of our First Responders",
CSX #3194 "Spirit of Law Enforcement" &
CSX #1776 "Spirit of our Armed Forces".

Special thanks to CSX for loaning out the locomotives for today's event, and to SMS Lines for hosting!!

Very nice. I saw the units come north this week on the Ashland, VA webcam, had no idea where they were headed.

You've certainly had a couple busy days. :)

Get the popcorn ready for this hour and ten minute long video! Featuring the latest happenings in South Jersey on former PRSL (and CNJ) territory, this video is loaded with everything from the common local to the popular heritage unit.
Some of the highlights include two Norfolk Southern heritage units, a Union Pacific heritage unit, and the new CSX commemorative units that were on display at the Wheels & Rails car show at SMS. All three loaded coal trains from Beesleys Point were captured, marking the end of the coal era on the former Clementon Branch. Also, a few scenes of the Winchester & Western in Bridgeton and Millville can be seen. We'll even witness the last run of a Conrail engineer before retiring after 41 years of service.
From a Chessie work train, to NJT's Atlantic City Line, to D.P.U. freights right here in South Jersey, this video should not disappoint, so I hope you enjoy it!

Shieldalloy Metallurgical Corp (SMC) is removing soil contaminated with heavy metals from their Superfund site in Newfield. They use a Shuttlewagon Commander SWX 420 to move the gondolas.

Some "fringe" railfanning...

Bound for South Jersey, I caught NS 38G in Bala Cynwyd this afternoon, awaiting a crew to take the train across the bridge. Ordinarily, I wouldn't even bother posting since the train hadn't yet made its way into Jersey. But since the Conrail Heritage Unit was on the point, I figured I would share a few pics from just outside the realm of the Garden State.

Over top of Righters Ferry Rd. Note the Reading Railroad "diamond" date stamp of 1949 on the bridge:

Good catch, Ben. 8098 certainly needs a bath.

This might impact the former 60N/61N gondolas. I just saw a 39G on 12/4 with no gons

...In Farrell, Pa., north of Pittsburgh, Russian-owned steelmaker NLMK Pennsylvania laid off 100 of its 430 steelworkers and cut 35 salaried office positions this week, citing higher import costs...

Delaware River ports have also seen a drop in import cargoes as tariffs rise, port officials say. “We are seeing the effect on steel from Europe. The tonnage is down,” said Sean Mahoney, spokesman for the city-owned Philadelphia city ports...

While out walking the dog on this frigid Wednesday evening, we decided to parallel the Hainesport Industrial Track for a bit, and happened to cross paths with WPCA-20 returning to Pavonia Yard after a day's work. The freight train passed by us, but came to a stop just before the old Maple Shade train station. After coercing the dog to sit still for a while, I had just enough time to snap a couple of photos.

NS #3013 (GP40-2), built for Conrail in 1977, was leading:

Opposite the train was the Maple Shade station, all decked out for Christmas:

The Conrail heritage unit made another appearance in South Jersey, coming in last night on 38G. Today, it was placed in the DPU spot on a relatively short 39G.
