I would think you would always want to use Feddybucks. But the CRRC underbid was so large that it probably works out okay for Taxxachu$$ett$.

I recently drove by the CRRC plant at night. Couldn't see much though the fencing. The CRRC logo is creepy.

Only if the orders are ToT (Time on Target), no major technical hiccups or ECO (Engineering Change Orders). And we can get at least 35 years out of them before GOHs (General Overhauls). Wow three (3) acronyms!

CRRC is trying to make their reputation on this order. Plus I think they should be able to find enough trainable, competent workers in the area. As for 35 years before GOH, that's the area that's gonna fail. I imagine they would also have plenty of managers/supervisors that want to work in USA that they won't have the problems that Hyundai-Rotem had. Dealing with U.S. unions is presumably a culture shock for them. (I'm just assuming they are unionized).

True, but, the use of federal funding vs state only funding won't change the end results of this.

Strange how Massachusetts continually ranks middle of the pack of all states in tax burden.

I saw a six pack of new Orange Line cars on the test track between Wellington and Sullivan on my trip home. Do the greatest photo since it was going away. Before you know it we'll have a case of cars! :P

Doesn't look like you're under the sea, to me!

I was looking at the top picture, and wondering why it was laying on it's side...only to click on it and realize the embedded image was rotated...

Testing has been going on for a while now.
I hear about it at work where I am helping out with the car documentation.

And now today, there will be another trainset delivered later today from Springfield to Wellington Rail Yard for their formal introduction of the new OR Cars to civilian riders

Do we have any sense of how well the tests of the new Orange Line cars are going? Have they picked up on any issues, or do the cars seem to be relatively clean?

Saw an orange line car headed east by truck with state police escort on the Mass Pike at the Auburn interchange at around 10:30AM 1/3/18. For unknown reason, it was crawling down the highway with traffic behind it stopped by the police escort.

Wow, I thought for sure they would have delivered them by rail. Not by truck. That's a cool sight.
