In regards to to the power plant, was there not a plan in the 70's for NYSEG to contract a nuclear plant on adjacent property?

A pair of SD40-2Ms (repowered SD45s) in Ithaca Central paint are currently at SK Yard in Buffalo.

NS D&H and Southern Tier Facebook page posting says the 2 units are CEFX SD40-2 rebuilds in with SD45 hoods painted in UP yellow & red.

Apparently the eb NS train passing the Chesterton Rail cam at 7:23pm on 11/24/18 (seen at 4:10 in the Youtube video below) is taking the 2 SD40s to the Southern Tier.

The ICR units were spotted in Sayre yesterday.

ICR is expected to begin operations on Saturday 12/8, as per a Facebook report.

The post regarding 12/7 was speculation, as in don't be surprised if the operation starts on 12/7. The official word seems to be Sat 12/8. This may be a case of wishful thinking for 12/7 or it could be a scenario (similar to OMID) where the shortline unofficially does a run before the official start date. At any rate, NS H13 won't be running on the Ithaca Secondary any more.

WATCO has created a page on their site for the Ithaca Central. Operations start tomorrow. The page does say the railroad will be shipping coal, so it will serve the Cayuga power plant, at least until it coverts to natural gas or shuts down, whichever comes first.

ICR began operations on Saturday 12/8. The train was delayed leaving Sayre because NS hadn't left a switch key for the Ithaca Central crew, but the train did get up to Ithaca later in the day. As per a Facebook report, ICR operations will be Mon-Fri in daylight.

"ICR"? Presume you mean "ITHR".

Already some question whether two units will be enough power for loads coming up the hill out of Ithaca.

Yes, the reporting marks are ITHR. Initial Facebook reports had the RR listed as ICR, but that was either in error or the reporting marks were changed before the Ithaca Cnetral RR began operations.
