still to dark and accident waiting to happen at crossings , safety was not in anyone's consideration.

its side view that is concerning , people in cars are not smart and do not even wait for gates to go up . and even reflective sill stickers have not prevented people from running into side of locomotives, specially in push mode.

Dutch, i'd bet there are reflector strips actually. In that picture, 125 has just been out-shopped, evidenced by missing number boards. Mayhaps the strips were applied after the pic, as the Geeps have reflective striping.

"Scotchlite" striping wont help, the overall bodyshell is a dark color.
"Scotchlite" striping wont "fix" Butt UGLY! :P

So the amalgamation of the NH Hood and McG schemes was better?

keep in mind scotch brite striping only work with a light source, pedestrians for one do not have headlights.
again safety did not even enter mindset of individual that designed this scheme.

WHO CARES?? If a pedestrian or driver is going to flat out IGNORE the flashing lights, gates, and those stupid trackside horns that’s THEIR problem and not the train’s. By your logic black locomotives, black cars, black bicycles, black people, and black clothes should all have reflective striping............ Get real.

If anything wasn’t taken into consideration it was how ugly the MBBs look with the logo placement and unnecessarily large red stripe. I get that they’re trying to project “motion” but it just looks uneven.

i'm holding out hope that the MBBs are just cab cars and the coaches will be red striped, as otherwise it looks horrific

Is CDOT planning to keep one of the GP-40s in the NH livery? When the normal public sees those black locos and horrid MBBs, they will be turned off right then and there.

Yeah, i doubt they'll be turned off; nobody seems to give a heck the color of the train taking them to work. Honestly, CTrail forging it's own brand identity and moving past NH is nice.

The State of Connecticut will probably continue in the tradition of the late, great New York, New Haven & Hartford in having absolutely no consistency in terms of image. We'll probably be on the third iteration of the CTrail scheme by the time they get around to repainting the last GP-40. Like the New Haven, which went through something like 8 or 9 different paint schemes in the ~30 years between the first diesels coming on the property and the end of it's corporate existence in 1968.

Does anyone know how much longer the 4 P32's will be in the McGinnis esque NH Paint?? They will be the last engines that even resemble it soon.

they were repainted during their overhaul, so It may be a while before they need it .

Some of the better shots of the newly repainted equipment:

I must say the new livery looks better and better each day. Still would be nice if the locos had more red and white and the striping logo placement on the coaches is still a tad odd, but the rebuilt P40s -if given the exact same color pattern- are sure to look very sharp since their carbody shape would lend itself better to the CTrail scheme.

Apparently some search queries on YouTube feature "X Train Hartford Line" in the search box :-P
