FYI: the as
52 is on the Belfast and Moosebead Lake this weekend. Hauling passengers to the Common Ground Fair. Loco is on the Unity end. Train only tickets can be purchased.

Old 52 was busy on Saturday. She got tired and decided to take a rest for a while. Some people waiting in Unity had to get in their cars and drive to the fair while the troops worked to get 52 running again. 52 did come back to life later in the day.

"Sappi 3 makes their way across Rt. 201 on their way to the Waterville yard behind both of Pan Am's heritage painted GP9's with a decent sized train in tow. While they are usually used for switching in the yard, you can usually get at least one of them running to Augusta or Oakland. The pair generally isn't kept together so getting them together on Sappi 3 was a nice change from just the usual lone GP9."

They're the last two left if I'm not mistaken, (thought I read somewhere 72 was recently retired) it's best they stick together to the end. :-)

Pretty photo. Good candidate for the PAR calendar.

I've heard a rumor the 52 and 77 will be put up for sale in the near future.

I've heard talk of the 52 and the 77 being put up for sale soon.

I didn't hear they were for sale but I did hear their days were numbered and to expect the two to be removed from the roster by summer.

Sale in running condition is most likely, unless one/both suffer a major failure in the very near term.

If they are sold or traded, I think they won't wander too far.
