A group of rail historians has partnered with the DuBois Area Historical Society to hold a symposium this August about the southern extension of the Buffalo & Susquehanna Railroad. We'll be focusing on the rarely-mentioned section from Sinnemahoning to Sagamore, but will be putting that area in the context of the greater Goodyear empire and B&S network. At our last planning meeting, we solidified presentations regarding the engineering/construction of the line, the coal mines and coke ovens, the marriage of the B&S and PRR telegraphers at Medix Run, rolling stock and locomotives, and interactions with the Pittsburg Shawmut and Northern. We have a venue lined up as well as food service for both days, and are just about sold out for vendor and memorabilia tables. It's really shaping up to be an informative session, and if there is interest we have enough material to do another conference or two in subsequent years.

If there is any interest out there from the railfans that frequent this forum, please sent me a PM and I can provide additional information and the registration form.
