Amtrak Job Postings with Asterisk (*)

I've noticed this over the past year or so on the Amtrak career website on various jobs in different locations. Does anyone know what the asterisk indicates on Amtrak job postings?

Example: "Passenger Engineer Trainee* - 092108621 - San Diego"

I have previously talked to an HR rep about this. It means that they are taking applications currently and the position is to be filled say 3 months from the posting.

I am waiting to hear back from someone in the Oakland HR office for a conductor trainee position. I've taken the online culture test, the scenarios/videos plus math test and the "physical abilities" testing two weeks ago, It's an experience I say.
