This morning on my way into Temple, I noticed a number of SEPTA's Comet I cars at the Midvale Bus Depot. How long have they been there? I know that Midvale's backlot is often used as SEPTA's de facto repository for retired equipment, but it seems to me that it would be more trouble than its worth to move the Comet Is there.

The Comet Shells (and the Silverliner V mock up) had their trucks removed and used as shop trucks during the Silverliner V Equalizer Bar replacement.

The shells will (supposedly) be put in the ocean and turned into reefs.

The 'Centennial Track' comes off the north end of Roberts Yard down next to the area they store buses slated to be scrapped. So it's less trouble than you may think. It had been largely covered by weeds and grass for years though so it's easy to miss.
