Visiting my now-grown kids over thanksgiving holiday I decided to check out the LV main from Lehighton to Allentown. Never made it as far south as Atown due to xmas shopper traffic but did go to Whitehall (Darktown). Wow what a difference the decades make. Every year more and more of the main row is disappearing to development. The Lehigh Street Bridge was recently rebuilt and now has on onramp that obliterated the LV main. In fact an Ironton RR employee lived in the house that had the double track main a few feet from his porch and the poor guy now has an onramp 10' from his house! Cant' believe how much we've lost.

Here are some pics. Looking north standing on the LV main in Darktown. The Ironton was at left, now a trail. Also pic of Beiry Yard. And looking north from the LNE diamonds at Catty Yard. LNE row now has some type of small building on it.

And now we've lost even more because unfortunately the LV main is now removed all the way down to Union St. in Allentown. Recently the rails were still in the grade crossings but all other rails of the main track, along with all crossing protection equipment and cabinets have been removed. There are now new no trespassing signs and concrete barriers on each side of the crossings to block access to the right of way.
