SEPTA single-ride tickets are stamped (yes, stamped with a rubber stamp) with the purchase date & selling location at the time of purchase. They are not supposed to be valid without being stamped. But practically speaking, the stamped information can be difficult to read & so most conductors will not usually give much heed to the date. SEPTA usually does change the color of ticket stock after a fare change, but there hasn't been one on RRD since 2013.

The current tickets are most likely the last color we'll ever see on the system, as I don't think there will be any more fare increases before SEPTA Key is implemented.

Come on seriously? We are now worrying about the date on the back of the tickets? Ever since septa started charging the onboard fare, I buy tickets in bulk and one or two always end up stray to be found a year or so later. If you have a ticket with an old date and you fear the efficiency of the septa conductor to scrutinize said date. just moisten your thumb a little and lightly smudge the date. Don't wipe it out totally, just make it illegible enough to be unreadable. If I paid for a ticket and it is the same price they are charging now, it's total BS for them to say, "Too bad, it's expired"

Heck, when it comes to fare payment BS is SEPTA's specialty. "We'll cut down the number of token machines, not let cashiers make change, eliminate all TVMs, shut down ticket offices ... and then charge extra when riders are forced to pay in cash."

Agree 100%! It's 2016, only in septa land can you enter a station for the busiest line in the city with a pocket full of $20's and cannot ride.
