Anyone else enjoying or otherwise experiencing the fault-riddled testing bed that is a half-billion-dollars worth of under-funded experimental, untested, absurdly complex & delicate cutting-edge PTC technology interfacing with a frankly ancient & brutally unreliable equipment stock & physical plant... splayed out over a crude & cauterized 562 signal system that is both dysfunctional & inneficient, on a good day...?

Did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

You forget he is an expert, I have found the PTC actually works as intended, however there are a few teething problem, no different to when ATC was rolled out all those years back

Gee Swampy...you forgot to throw "Septa" into your rant. Got a few questions:

1. "...fault-ridden testing bed..." What is fault-ridden about it?
2. ""...under-funded"? How?
3. "untested"? This is probably the most absurd statement. It's been undergoing testing for months, involving the FRA to ensure they are satisfied prior to it being turned-on.
4. "absurdly complex". How would you design a PTC system without making it complex?
5. "ancient & brutally unreliable equipment stock and physical plant". I didn't know the SL V's were already being called "ancient". Anyway what about the physical plant is "ancient".
and finally,
6. How is the signal system dysfunctional & inefficient?

So it is smartly being turned on one line at a time to ensure it is working properly. Next line is Doylestown. Why, because you are more likely to have a train incident on single track line than multiple track territory. Hey!! Lookit!! Septa doing things right for a change!! :-D

To simplify things.... it is just ACSES with a couple less cab signal aspects on the SEPTA side. If the SEPTA folks could see what we have suffer for PTC training on the freight side (and as that is the same for everybody not using ACSES and variants in the Northeast), they will lessen the degree of groaning a bit... ;)

Just to clarify here, it's not septa folks complaining, it's a bunch of buffs on a septa orientated forum (although there are employees lurking), it seems the way with these forums that armchair employees know the best way to do things without knowing very much about anything.

I'm all up for a discussion, but not when it's opinions without facts backing them.

I love the new ATC and PTC cab signals, so much easier and faster to test compared to the older ones! lol
