On Thursday 3/31/16, while I was driving north on rte 128 in the Waltham area, I passed a southbound flat bed truck hauling what looked like a boiler without cab sitting on 0-4-0 driving wheels. As our closing speed was ~120mph, I couldn't get any detail other than it looked like it might have been a narrow gauge locomotive. Anyone know the story?

Hi
The locomotive you saw could have been ex New Haven Trap Rock # 38 , because she was recently sold . Pat

I Googled some imagery for NH Trap Rock 38 and it's a good candidate for what I saw although I think the saddle tank was also removed. Thanks!

I don't know if that was the 38 or not but I do know the Trap Rock #38 was bought by one of the volunteers at the Valley RR, and is to be restored at his home.

Nothing like primary source data! One of the things love about this place.
