Alert twitter user Ben shared a picture of a loaded hopper car off the tracks.

This is the western side of the wye leading up to the CSX Framingham (MA) North Yard. North of the Framingham-Worcester (ex-Boston & Albany) main line.

This yard lead is heavily used by daily yard jobs assembling trains for moves back to the west (Albany) or to the southeast (Middleboro, Readville, etc.)

Very easy to railfan this spot from the Framingham MBTA commuter rail stop. The bridge over the main line offers an excellent view of this exact spot with no fences or any obstructions.

Well, it looks like they'll be able to clean it up pretty quickly; the car thankfully didn't decide it wanted to lie on its side. That hopper is surprisingly flexible, though.

Yes and that car may also be loaded well in excess of its weight limit. Is it hauling scrap or dirt? Both are more dense than coal, for which that car appears to have been originally intended.

The car was on the tracks, sitting with one buddy down closer to CP22, while track repair was going on in the area of the derailment when I went through around 6:30 last night. I forgot about it until I got here this morning, but it had derailment written all over it in my head.

I was in Framingham a little earlier than usual on Tuesday night and grabbed some mediocre pictures with my phone:

I also forgot to include in my original post that you can see where this is with the map I made of the Framingham-Worcester line. The derail was directly due north of the red "Framingham Station" marker on my map:

Seems that the "normal" reuse of "Bathtub" gons is in C+D/garbage service when kicked out of unit coal train service,
if you don't load the car properly, can create problems when moving in a train.
Doesn't help that CSX is lousy at track maintaince.
