RMLI Riverhead Railroad Festival

Kind of surprised they didn't do it in conjunction with the Polish festival this last weekend.

Yes - It's time to prepare for this year's Riverhead Railroad Festival...

Both of Long Island's NRHS chapters - LI Sunrise Trail and Twin Forks will be there with display tables.

In some past years the Railroad Festival has been scheduled for the same weekend as the adjacent Polish
Town Festival - but it turned out to be too much for RMLI and the Village of Riverhead to adequately handle
with the limitations on parking and other amenities that are there. The Riverhead Railroad Festival is better off
scheduled on its own weekend as has been the recent rule.

I am looking forward to this year's Rail Fest and plan to attend...

Kind of surprised they didn't do it in conjunction with the Polish festival this last weekend.

The festival has always been the weekend before Labor Day weekend. This was started that way to be an individual draw for people visiting Riverhead, rather than piggybacking onto another event. There is also the likelihood that a permit for the event would not be issued by the Town for simultaneous events.

I don't know if having folks pumped up on beer and sausage would be a good thing at a rail museum - good luck to the folks at RMLI!

Is Nya bringing out an engine as they have done in the past?
