All Aboard Florida Selects Siemens as Train Manufacturer

This is looking to be a reality than vaporware. Interesting they chose the same locomotives the Midwest states and California are getting but went with a different pax car, a single level car not seen before made by Siemens.

Also interesting that the article states that the purchase is "Buy America" compliant. "Buy America" generally refers to government-imposed legal requirements that the government prefer US suppliers for it. Unless AAF is seeking government subsidies, why would "Buy America" compliance matter?

They applied for a RRIF loan, and the NIMBYs down here are absolutely nitpicking everything AAF is doing...right down to the design of the stations.

That's why they mentioned specific locations in the U. S. where suppliers are located, instead of just mentioning that they are in compliance.

Researching Siemens' website it seems rather likely that one of the two following will be the basis for the AAF cars:

Perhaps something along the lines of OBB's Railjet, enlarged a bit for the US loading gauge and a diesel locomotive on both ends, instead of the Taurus electric and the DVT.

While they were there, photographers snapped pictures of everything on the factory floor including Brightline Charger locomotives, the new Illinois-California-Michigan-Missouri-Washington Charger locomotives, single-level intercity passenger cars and even light rail vehicles.
