Now on a temporary summer program school bus run to North Plainfield, I now get to check out the daily (about 9:20 am) eastbound freight thru South Plainfield. With either 2 or 3 NS engines on the point, and piggy backs and containers, it gives me my daily railfan fix. What symbol is this train? Where from and where going to? New spot for me, curious about the details. Great spot, right at the crossing, to park safely and just watch.

Sounds like NS 212 but there are a couple of other possibilites.

Checked the location this morning. Great action. Between 9:20 and 11:00 am, five trains passed. Three NS eastbounds (one with a UP engine sandwiched between NS units) and two CSX westbounds, a general freight and a trash train.

There must be 25 places to get food within a mile radius of the Front St. crossing in South Plainfield.

Heard some afternoon action around 1:00 pm, but I wasn't on site to see it.

Nice find.
