London Underground equipment

New York City subway has lovely equipment, but the London Underground it beat.

Upholstered seats with armrests have been standard on the Underground since the opening of the Metropolitan Railway in 1863, but somehow we can't keep the vandals away from upholstery in this country; BART made it work for awhile (despite an upholstery-repair contractor who paid individuals to slash the seats), but even they seem to be going to hard plastic.

Well it all depends on the person

I personally like older cars, and don't really care about the comfort, etc.

NYC Subway is for the win, unless you count the dinosaurs on the Isle of wight. it's really amazing how they keep R1-9 age stock running for so long. Same with the old standard stock they retired in 1992.
