On a different point: I see it only costs $8 roundtrip from Wareham or BB to Hyannis. That's one to advertise with signs on the platform and stuff. The old CC&H enabled day trips to any stop BB, Sandwich, West Barnstable, Hyannis, but the current scenic trains don't. So if people are getting off at Wareham, make a little effort to fill those seats with people who want a cheap roundtrip ride.
Middleborough also costs $8 along with Wareham and BB.

Word has it that tonight's train (6/27/14) will have a second wrapped coach that will eventually be used only to store bicycles. Coach #244 will have the bike racks removed and seats put back in. There is a new second platform at Buzzard's Bay to facilitate the loading/unloading of bicycles as well.

New Wareham Village Platform. It's a nice platform! 010 lead tonight south, and 1722 leading north.

Nice indeed! The shrink wrapping on that coach doesn't look half bad either.

Nice, I just wish they would wrap the ends. I understand the this car will be a bike only car and the other wrapped car (#224) will have the bike racks removed and seats put back in.

The weed sprayer needs to pass through Wareham in a bad way. :P

More like a weed wacker since the lake/bay is on the other side with resident swans,
fish & other fowl. You'd need a 2 year, EPA approved, CORPS blessed study first too. :)

Weed spraying may be prohibited here for environmental reasons. A mixture of tidal salt and fresh river water is right next to the tracks.

Not the best day today. Here are the passenger counts:
Boston: 49
Braintree: 7
Middleborough: 0
Wareham: -
Buzzards Bay: -

If someone could "fill in the blanks" for the last two... :-D

Wow, numbers seem really down this year. Have they been doing any advertising? I have seen nothing since before the season started. You would think if ridership was down, they would be trying to attract riders! Seems pretty silly to have a 3600hp engine pulling 8 cars, 6 of which are bilevels for 49 people...

Friday's counts show:
172 w/6 bikes out of Boston. (No count for Wareham)
10 into Boston on the return trip (25 off at Wareham)

Saturday:
120 w/20 bikes and 2 off w/bikes at Wareham
31 into Boston (no count for Wareham again)

On the NECN "This Week in Business" today (6/29), one of the topics
was the tourism business on Cape Cod. While the Cape Flyer was
shown, the Chair of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce noted that
it is a 2 1/2 - 3 hour trip. She also predicted there will be a new
toll bridge over the Cape Cod Canal in the next five to seven years.
