The Pennsy built ten passenger-equipped X-42s in 1950 and repainted them from freight colors to passenger colors in 1951. Funaro and Camerlengo (http://fandckits.com/) offers an HO scale model of the car, and Mount Vernon Shops (http://mountvernonshops.com/X42.html) offers a decal set for the 1951 color/lettering scheme.
As depicted, the car shows no Railway Express Agency markings, yet the cars were built for the purpose of handling express. With or without such markings, if used for carrying REA traffic, would they have ever gone off-line?
