Has Metro North ever double headed P32AC-DM locomotives with each other or with the BL20GH locomotives in revenue service?

I do remember seeing a video of a Waterbury shuttle with 115-125 both running although I haven't seen 2 genesis together other then inspection train
Also remember seeing a video of 129-127 on Wassaic shuttle once haven't seen 2 Bl20gh's together

MUing diesels is not double heading.
double heading is two locomotives with separate crews working in tandem like on steam trains.
yes we have run them (MUed) in all configurations including FL-9 with genesis

I think double ended is a better term for what the OP is talking about.

Not in revenue service, but IIRC some Amtrak trains into/out of GCT have been towed by back to back MNR units.

But FWIW I think "elephant-style" is the best description here.

No, elephant style is two engine facing the same way on one end of the train. What the OP is describing is two engines on opposite ends of a train. When Amtrak came into GCT a few years ago, it was elephant style as you said.

Check this out... http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 94&nseq=27, elephant style expect for the 208 engine.

There's this one too, but at less of an angle... http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 339&skip=3

This would be a double ended train... http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 1&nseq=232

It appears there's s a bit of confusion here so allow me:

To me at least the OP is thinking of "elephant style". As Dutch said in the steam era each loco would be facing the same direction hence the *albeit technically and operationally incorrect* term "double headed".

Given the wording of the OP's original post I figured you meant "back to back" as was the case with the picture of the 2 MNR units towing the Amtrak train.

Otherwise "double ended"/"bracketing X number of coaches"/"sandwiched", et al would obviously imply a loco on each end.

Pardon the borderline pettiness of my post :-P

The MN Inspection Train always runs with 2 P32's.

In their later years it was common to see the FL9s running elephant style up to Wassaic. One unit would provide traction power while the other would provide HEP.

Last year the governors train ran with 2 P32's elephant style from GCT to Rhinebeck and back.

Before MN,near the end of CR operation of the Metro Region,2 FL-9's or a B-23-7/FL-9 combo would bracket a set of
the old steam heat coaches on Brewster-Dover Plains shuttles, some times done on the Hudson line between Harmon-Poughkeepsie
Change at Harmon to M-1's for the Express run to GCT.
Bracket sets were 2-4 coaches between the 2 units
The local freights out of Oak Point/Danbury would do the same thing,so as not to lose time switching by run around moves.
