Looks like a NS SW 1000 or 1500 at Wayne shop this am. Didn't get a good look. Guess no West Chester ALCO again for gel train season.

Took possession of it from NS sometime last week.

Probably won't let them get past that suddenly excepted track around Glen Mills. Oops.

Funny SEPTA just sent out one of its units to get Chop Shopped. Love the one you're with?

We WERE slated to lease the 1803 to SEPTA for this year's leaf season. This is until they took the Glen Mills connector one step further than excepted, and took it OOS all together. For now, unfortunately, we are an island. :(

Has any reasoning emerged for this yet? Besides cutting off WCRR, they are probably losing revenue from the ballast trains.

Not to veer off topic as a whole thread could probably be created about this, but it comes down to $$ and responsibility. In classic form, SEPTA does not want to invest any money in keeping a line open that they do not have to run their own equipment over. They themselves get ballast out of the Glen Mills quarry, however they TRUCK it out. To reopen the line SEPTA would have to invest under $1 million to fix a few issues, as the studies have been done already. Unfortunately they have taken the attitude of simply washing their hands of it. Its too bad since they already invested $10 million in stimulus funds in 2009-10 to stabilize the slope, build a retaining wall, and lay new ties/rail at Lenni in anticipation for the Wawa extension. That went right out the window...

The rental is NS 2102, a SW 1001 built in Dec.1973. Originally Reading 2612, then Conrail 9412, went to NS as 9412 and renumbered 2102. When I saw the number on the shop roster I thought we were getting a T-1 ;-), boy was I dissapointed! It looks better in green.

Observed the 2102 (solo) in NS paint on the Trenton sub about 2 weeks ago at Woodbourne heading east, then back west again about 30 mins later. Was on track two both ways, so It may have been a Saturday or sunday.

Are they parking it in the yard there?

No, this was prior to SEPTA's acceptance.
