Mr. Railnut's point is on the mark; the party in interest for having service restored across the Delaware River is Monroe County PA; Much, MUCH, earlier in this epic, I set forth why NJ has no interest whatever in having rail service operating through the State to benefit riders originating from and destined to out of state points, i.e. Monroe County- New York City. I further set forth that NJ
HAS an interest in the buses presently transporting those commuters. Lest we forget NJ collects fuel taxes from the bus operators regardless of where they gas up and they further participate in toll revenues and terminal charges through the bi-state agencies operating those facilities.
There is a Federal agency named Amtrak for that kind of stuff, but they do not seem too interested let alone funded.
A big problem is where is the precedent for one state to fund rail improvements in another? Has the service over the ERIE through NJ resulted in any track improvements funded by NYMTA for their trains that terminate at Suffern?
