Apparently the former CNJ/Staten Island Railroad interchange yard in Cranford (between the site of Excee Tower and South Avenue) is being redeveloped. Any word on what is being developed at this site?

Any word on what is being developed at this site?It is going to be an escape yard for NJT to store equipment in case of more major flooding. NJT would move massive amounts of equipment from the MMC (and other flood prone locations) to here. Of course, NJT may also use this yard for other purposes as well, but escaping floods was the primary factor in redeveloping it.

What you're seeing is the preliminary site work.RAHWAYVALLEYRAILROAD wrote:Apparently the former CNJ/Staten Island Railroad interchange yard in Cranford (between the site of Excee Tower and South Avenue) is being redeveloped. Don31 wrote:I suspected that it would not be a yard, as despite the substantial track rebuild effort no switch was installed to access yard tracks. The distribution of surveyor stakes on the property also appear to not be track related.nick11a wrote:Actually, thats not correct.
