The 3489 is back from Waterville. Watched this power today head east to cross over to the main, then headed west out of Rigby. Maybe going to pick up a SEPO.

It seems to me that it wasn't that long ago that a four engine power move would have been considered unusual. Now we all know there's so much extra business that none of us even bat an eye at it.

They would have run 4 engines on some of the higher tonnage jobs if they had the power. They either went under powered or reduced tonnage. Even when I was there they NEVER had enough power to take all the cars for one train east out of the Deerfield because South Ash would clobber them. That and they didn't have telemetry ever lol.

I post monthly Pan Am locomotive roster updates to the files section of Guilfordrailsightings yahoogroup. You can view/download them here:

If you are not a member of that group, you may want to join. Or send me a private message.

No. I think the very last one (212) was scrapped earlier this year. No more 200's.

These beauties have come off lease and are once again available for lease or sale. As far as SD40-2s go, these are pretty much the cream of the crop...

Indeed... sort of a hybrid of the PAR Smurf scheme and the CN Zebra Stripes scheme.

PAR is looking to spend $60k to 70k a unit in bulk deals.
