You're close. The unit is privately owned and is leased by the Adirondack Scenic. It's owner chose the scheme.

Lots of folks joined us for the celebration. Reported numbers included 235 on the Saturday train from Utica, and 121 on the Sunday Utica Train. On the locals, 338 rode the trains to Otter Lake, and 116 "visited" Carter. Almost 150 rode the $2 caboose hops.

Up on the "North End," Hobofest helped swell ridership to 534 on Sunday alone.

Current Adirondack Scenic roster:

SW1 705: In service (back up Thendara), NYC paint and lettering (privately owned).
F10 1502: In service, Thendara, patched Metro North paint scheme.
F7A 1508: Select service (needs engine work, ran for first time this year at railfan event) Adirondack two-tone grey
RS18u 1835: In service Utica, Adirondack Scenic green/black/yellow
RS18u 1845: In service Utica, Adirondack Scenic green/black/yellow
GP9 6076: In service Lake Placid, "Adirondack & St. Lawrance Railway" black with silver and blue (privately owned).
RS3 8223: Soon to return to service, Thendara, NYC "Lightning Stripes" (privately owned).

Not Technically on the roster yet:

S1 9411: Stored Rome, ownership not yet transfered. Adirondack green/black/yellow. Owned by Rome Technologies Park.
