Sorry if this has been asked already, but is SEPTA planning on selling the number plates from the outsides of the scrapped cars? If so I would be interested...

I don't think so. To my knowledge from the images on sterling rail and what I've seen at Wayne Junction they are just painting over them in black.

As for the numbers on the sides, its either the dumpster or one of the storage sheds at Wayne Junction.

I am interested to see if they sell the grey signs when the black ones go into circulation officially.

SEPTA doesn't own the cars. They sold 68 to Dublin Scrap Metal. 45.32 Average Gross tons at $510.00 per ton equalling $1,571,697.60 (per SEPTA website)

Sterling rail is selling 80 of the 68 per their website for $65,000 each. http://www.sterlingrail.com/classifieds ... hp?id=3306

I don't understand how you you can sell 80 of 68 cars.
