Trying to Get Bus and Train Route info From Haverhill

Hi,

I'm brand new here......I live in Haverhill, No car, need to find a job.
I keep running into jobs that have no train or bus stop according to MBTA Customer Service.
I often find out much later that there IS a way to get there with no car....

Where do I start...

Two links that might prove somewhat helpful...

For subway/commuter rail service/Silver Line: http://erikdemaine.org/maps/mbta/
You can put in a specific address, and check-off a subway line or commuter rail service you're willing to take, to see if any runs near the address you entered. (Personally, I would just check all services to start, then enter addresses as needed)

For bus service: http://web.mit.edu/boojum/www/Map/
You can click on as few or as many bus routes as you want, and the map will display where the route runs along.

There are likely more specific resources out there, but these should give you a start. Good luck!

I also live in Haverhill area now. Here's a suggestion, when trying to find how to get to a place, don't put Haverhill in MBTA's trip planner......especially if it is in Boston, start with North Station.

I played with the trip planner earlier today putting in a few spots and it told me either a long, roundabout way, or that there was no service available.......which is not true.

CSX Conductor is correct, by living in Haverhill your are locked into taking a car and driving in or the commuter rail to North Station. Then from North Station you are off and running for most if not all of the Boston area. So the best bet is to look at North Station as your starting point. The biggest problems will be timing since the trips out of Haverhill are 05:05, 05:38, 06:10, 06:46 and 07:30, to start with so you will be early or late. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

That's the MBTA bus system.

For the Haverhill bus system, see http://www.mvrta.com/Our-Services/Fixed ... dules.aspx .

Unfortunately their Google Map link is broken, so you'll have to browse the individual schedules. Washington Square Transit Station means downtown Haverhill, and Buckley Transportation Center means Lawrence.

Two more points: All Commuter Rail trains from Haverhill go to North Station. Most get there via Reading and Malden, but a few, notably the 0646 and 0730, go via Wilmington and Winchester. I see people commuting between Haverhill and Wakefield, Malden etc.

Second, Amtrak's Downeaster also runs through Haverhill. Fares are higher than Commuter Rail, but it may allow you to get a job in Exeter or Durham NH, provided you don't have to be there until mid-morning.

Yikes! That site is TERRIBLY inaccurate! I can't even find the contact info for the person who made it to send corrections!

Given the URL, I'd guess [email protected] . What are the errors?

I think it's based on old data. It shows the 136 and 137 going down Pleasant St in Malden. They used to, but that was changed 5-10 years ago.
