Passenger rail service could return to Shreveport-Bossier TX

I wonder where the station would be.

I lived in Shreveport for 5 months in 1993, and a short line (Midsouth Rail corp.) was operating the line through there. I took several photos of the area:

At that time, the Shreveport station was still there. Is it gone now, or isolated from remaining tracks?

Looks like it's still standing, currently tenanted by a gay night club if Google is correct. It is isolated from through track, but not far enough to forgo a future track connection, and its location allows access to all KCS and UP lines. http://goo.gl/maps/Svx6

That is the remnants of Shreveport Union Station.

The Shreveport Union Station burnt down shortly after the discontinuance of the "Southern Belle" in November 1969.

Shreveport had at least two stations. As noted above Union Station (served, I believe, by KCS and IC) is long gone. I think the former MP (TP) station stood at least into the '90's, but I seem to recall reading that it was demolished.

Amongst the items being studied for returning rail services will be where the station should be located in Shreveport. I suppose for most DFW riders, near the casino/hotel would be best.
