oops. You got it, I meant East Cambridge.

So basically this project is dead. Pan Am is pulling every stunt possible to get it restarted, but Global has shown no indication of progressing or starting construction on their property. No one has spent any money on this except grass trimming. And we are all talking about railroading in the 1950s. I guess nothing will ever happen outside the western MA intermodal facilities.

And what sort of evidence do you have to make such a bold assumption?

It is definitely not dead. There is still a chance that it might not happen, but these things do not happen overnight, especially in this era when every little detail has to be gone over a million times before they do anything. Look at the new Ayer Auto Facility, the Mechanicville Intermodal Yard, the Grain Train etc. There was talk about them for years before they actually happened. Then, a little work started, grading, etc., then it stopped, then started again..you get the point. Big companies don't think in terms of months or even years, they are looking 10, 20 years ahead. So, before anything big happens in Revere, I'm sure Global, Pan Am, and MBCR are making sure they have all their I's dotted and T's crossed.

Project is about as far from dead as can be. These things take time.

Heh, as I stated on page 47, its a Long-Island Style Rail Project...
Sounds likes it's a Long Island-style rail project - announce something, maybe do a little prep work, fartz around and fartz around for ages (years), then finally get it done within a short period of time (*) because construction methods are actually pretty quick once you get started - it's the financial and approvals which take seem to take forever.

Through passenger service Boston - Portland via Salem, MA ended in 1952 when the old ERR Kittery - South Berwick was abandoned. The last train over the Merrimack River bridge in Newburyport was in early 1965. The last use of the line between Salisbury MA and Seabrook NH was in 1968 (one freight car to Amesbury).

Hmm, claim the revamped East Boston Branch trackage is for a luxury Casino-Dinner train?

Tracer, and othe rlist members. The Ethanol to Revere project is in limbo and has been in limbo since some residence from Ayer west to Revere have complained loudy to their Representatives about the hazards that's associated with this type of a train coming through their neighborhoods.
The DEP permits were not issued either and are still bing held back.
So that's why there's absolutely nothing going to happen in East Boston or Revere right now.
In the meantime the trucks/trailers and debris are slowly making their way back on to the E. Boston Branch r o w.

The railroad still wants to see this happen but it has been de-prioritized a touch with the crude oil contract recently, of which they get a pretty penny to move.

I'm sure they do.. Global wants to see it happen even more than the railroads that these cars will come in from.
It's not that there's a need or not a need for oil or ethanol ...it's held up by the Representatives and Department of Environmental Protection. No permit, no rebuilding of the branch which equals no trains.
As was said the derailment and fire in Ohio was something that wont help the cause now.
