Willows "Slow" Sign

I could not find a reference to this on here or elsewhere. What is the purpose for the "Slow" sign posted at Willows? Thanks!

Since you didn't say exactly where the sign you saw is; I will assume it is at the crossing of Willows Rd. and the Stony Brook. It indicates the beginning of the speed restriction on Track 2 between Willows and Willlows East (CPF-WL to CPF-312). It was applied back when B&M operating rules were still in effect. It has not been changed to a NORAC "S".

Here are a coupple of photos of the sign:

This sign does seem a bit superfluous for the Stony Brook branch. Is there any stretch between Willows and N. Chelmsford that isn't slow (which I assume is 10-15mph based on my eyeball observation)?

The sign is simply a dinosaur. It means nothing anymore, but nobody has bothered to remove it.

Who knows? Maybe the sign wasn't removed because Someone in a Position of Authority anticipated that the Brook would once again become a Good Track Route (Apologies to the ancestor of SLR)!

By definition, Slow Speed is 15mph.
