Spur removal / abandonment

There are a ton of spurs just west of the MIA airport into factories/warehouses that have been removed recently. Why does FEC tear up the tracks? There is future potential of a customer. Once they remove the rails, the future income potential drops to 0%. I was surprised to see how many abandoned spur lines there were in this area.

The Florida East Coast sold a portion of Hialeah Yard to the airport for expansion. They own a huge amount of property
elsewhere and some operations will eventually be relocated. You need to stay tuned for more later on.

Additionally, railroads pay tax on each mile of track in the ground, so if it isn't earning its keep it gets pulled up.
