Selkirk Dispatch Center still around?

Postby MNCRR9000 on Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:56 am

I was wondering is the Selkirk Dispatch Center still around that controls the Albany to Boston line or has it been relocated as part of whole reorganization project. Second question is does or did the Selkirk office only dispatch the Albany to Boston line?

Selkirk dispatchers office is very active. Everything east of Buffalo and north of Newark is dispatched from Selkirk.

In fact, CSX has made moves to decentralize the dispatch center, after realizing that one good hurricaine could paralize the entire system if the dispatching is all done out of one place in Florida.

A hurricaine strike had nothing to do with the breakup of the center.

Thanks for the responses. Thats a good move that they decided to decentralize their dispatching options.

Yes....it sets up battlegrouds at division points....that have to be resolved by unanswered telephone calls and urinated off unseen individuals in turf wars....rather than face to face problem resolution.

People act much differently when you deal with them over the phone, than they do when you deal with them on a one on one face to face basis. Over the phone, each party pushes the problem off on the other party and neither believe they bend any to resolve the problem. Face to face the problems get resolved.

As info - the Selkirk office dispatches the territory from Park Jct at Philadelphia North. Park Jct to S.Kearney, NJ is a part of the Baltimore Division but is dispatched by Albany Division personnel.
