Fall Rail Excursions
November 7th and 8th
The first excursion trains since 1997 will operate out of Roanoke, Va., over two Norfolk Southern lines Nov. 7 and 8. The trips are sponsored by the Roanoke Chapter, National Railway Historical Society. Trains leave at 8 a.m. from the former Norfolk & Western passenger station behind the O. Winston Link Museum. Saturday\'s trip is to Bluefield, W. Va., via the New River, and Sunday\'s trip is to Shenandoah, Va., via the James River. This is an Amtrak train with additional privately owned cars.
Adult coach tickets are $145 and children (12 and under) are $95 each day. Information and ordering instructions are available at www.roanokenrhs.org/excursions.html or by calling 540-774-0611.
