PLEASE: Do not send articles or photos without first sending a letter of inquiry. The Creative Director will then give you instructions on how to submit your piece.

Before you start on your submission, please write us about your idea first. You can email our Creative Director, and our team will respond to you as quick as we can. We will tell you whether or not we can use your material, and we may even be able to help you develop some ideas.

We encourage you to share your photographs with us! Original photographs that are either color or black and white are welcome. If you are submitting photos that are part of your personal collection, but that you did not take yourself, you must provide us with the name of the original photographer, wherever possible.

When submitting photos, please give us as much information as possible- equipment type, location, date, and where possible, photo data (f-stop, exposure, and film type). Photos must be submitted in digital format- scans should be 72 dpi and at least 1024 x 768 (or bigger). Black-and-white scans should be saved as "grayscale" (or "256 grays") while color scans should be saved as "RGB" images ("millions of colors") and saved as JPG files.

Make sure we know which caption goes to which file. We prefer that you burn a CD (or have a PhotoCD made at your local store). If you cannot burn a CD, then we can make arrangements for you to email the images to us.

We don't expect you to write pages and pages; Anything from 500-1500 words works the best for us. If you want to write more, consider spreading your material across several articles. Don't let writing discourage you! Be yourself! Tell us a story. What makes your subject interesting to you and others?

If you are submitting photos along with your story, please follow the guidelines above. If you are submitting maps or other illustrations, please contact our Creative Director for more instructions. Please submit files in Microsoft Word format. You can submit files on CD, or by emailing them to the Creative Director.
