The existing Gilroy turns (and the planned extension to Watsonville, Castroville, and Salinas) will still run under diesel power to San Francisco.

What was that about California donating more money to the Nation than it receives?

This sounds, to this Native Son of the Golden West, like an attempt to get the rest of us to pay for the needs of the Bay Area Counties...

I'd of thunk they would want to minimize the Diesel consists; and not slow down the EMU's behind them.....

Electrification of Caltrain is underway: CalMod - Caltrain Modernization - the foundations are currently half-done, and poles and wires are going up between South SF and San Mateo.
